The Four Most Important Steps to Get Skinny Fast

If you want to get skinny fast, there are four things you must do. These four steps are basic, but they work. Purchase programs to help you, hire trainers if necessary, read inspirational books - whatever it takes for you to do these four things.

First Step

Count your calories. Do this by using an online calorie counter. Enter everything you eat, every day. Enter your exercise as well. By doing this, you will learn what low-calorie foods fill you up and satisfy you. Once you figure that out, make sure to keep those foods around.

Most important, DO NOT eat less than 1000 net calories a day. If you restrict your caloric intake too much, your body will think you are entering a famine (from the caveman days) and automatically slow down your metabolism. This is a BAD thing - the slower your metabolism, the fewer calories your body will burn at rest. You want to increase your metabolism with the right kinds of foods.

Give yourself a free day every week to eat whatever you want. This serves two purposes: first, it lets your body know that you are not in a famine, so it does not need to slow down your metabolism, and second, it makes all the other days in the week easier to get through. A free day is really important in your quest to get skinny fast.

Second Step

Stop drinking alcohol. For some of you this will be easy, for others used to a daily drink this may be hard. Alcohol is full of empty calories. Even if you account for these calories, alcohol also causes water retention which adds pounds to your body. And if the energy from the alcohol isn't used immediately, it quickly converts to fat. It is a simple carb, and simple carbs are to be avoided at all cost.

If you like to drink alcohol, allow yourself to do so on special occasions. If you are having dinner out with your spouse on a free day, then imbibe. But in general skip the alcoholic beverages, at least until you have reached your desired weight and can relax your caloric intake a little.

Third Step

Drink lots of water. Everyone has heard this before, but drink lots and lots of water. Try for at least 100 ounces a day. Keep a water bottle with you at all times. Know how many ounces it holds and make sure you reach your water goal. Water cleanses your body of toxins and helps shed fat. Water is essential to losing weight.

Fourth Step

Build some muscle. Do whatever it takes for you to start building muscle. For some people it is easier than others. You may have to start by sitting on your couch with a five-pound dumbbell doing curls. But do something. Muscle uses more energy at rest than fat. So the more muscle on your body, the more calories you will burn automatically. As you build muscle, if you keep your caloric intake the same, you will see the pounds come off faster. Once you reach your goal, if you have more muscle on your body you will be able to eat more calories each day and still maintain your weight.

Build these four steps into your daily routine. If you do, you are guaranteed to get skinny fast.
