The Four Most Important Steps to Get Skinny Fast

If you want to get skinny fast, there are four things you must do. These four steps are basic, but they work. Purchase programs to help you, hire trainers if necessary, read inspirational books - whatever it takes for you to do these four things.

First Step

Count your calories. Do this by using an online calorie counter. Enter everything you eat, every day. Enter your exercise as well. By doing this, you will learn what low-calorie foods fill you up and satisfy you. Once you figure that out, make sure to keep those foods around.

Most important, DO NOT eat less than 1000 net calories a day. If you restrict your caloric intake too much, your body will think you are entering a famine (from the caveman days) and automatically slow down your metabolism. This is a BAD thing - the slower your metabolism, the fewer calories your body will burn at rest. You want to increase your metabolism with the right kinds of foods.

Give yourself a free day every week to eat whatever you want. This serves two purposes: first, it lets your body know that you are not in a famine, so it does not need to slow down your metabolism, and second, it makes all the other days in the week easier to get through. A free day is really important in your quest to get skinny fast.

Second Step

Stop drinking alcohol. For some of you this will be easy, for others used to a daily drink this may be hard. Alcohol is full of empty calories. Even if you account for these calories, alcohol also causes water retention which adds pounds to your body. And if the energy from the alcohol isn't used immediately, it quickly converts to fat. It is a simple carb, and simple carbs are to be avoided at all cost.

If you like to drink alcohol, allow yourself to do so on special occasions. If you are having dinner out with your spouse on a free day, then imbibe. But in general skip the alcoholic beverages, at least until you have reached your desired weight and can relax your caloric intake a little.

Third Step

Drink lots of water. Everyone has heard this before, but drink lots and lots of water. Try for at least 100 ounces a day. Keep a water bottle with you at all times. Know how many ounces it holds and make sure you reach your water goal. Water cleanses your body of toxins and helps shed fat. Water is essential to losing weight.

Fourth Step

Build some muscle. Do whatever it takes for you to start building muscle. For some people it is easier than others. You may have to start by sitting on your couch with a five-pound dumbbell doing curls. But do something. Muscle uses more energy at rest than fat. So the more muscle on your body, the more calories you will burn automatically. As you build muscle, if you keep your caloric intake the same, you will see the pounds come off faster. Once you reach your goal, if you have more muscle on your body you will be able to eat more calories each day and still maintain your weight.

Build these four steps into your daily routine. If you do, you are guaranteed to get skinny fast.

Lose Weight Safely - In Ballet Shoes and Pointe Shoes

"Ballet is anatomically incorrect". Quote from - William Forsythe, in a wonderful movie about his company.

I had a weight problem when I was a teenager. At the National Ballet School of Canada we were weighed once a week. Our weight was posted publicly in the lunch room, from week to week. On Fridays when my class got weighed, we skipped breakfast but drank a lot of coffee - so as to stimulate urination, water loss, and loss of weight. So we went into ballet class at 9:00 with no nutrition, and dehydrated. Not recommended for a good lifestyle..

The funny thing is, I had no weight problem before I went to the school. I was so thin as a child that my mother had all kinds of tricks and punishments to make me eat.

Unfortunately at the time, little was known about metabolism, and good diet. I know the school has corrected that now.

The absolutely most incredibly talented dancer in our school at the time also had a weight problem. She was chosen for a solo by a visiting Russian teacher. She lost tons of weight and danced brilliantly. People were riveted when she stepped onto the stage in the school show. Time and space stopped when she danced.

But after he left for Russia she gained weight again. Then a few months later she was supposed to go into the National Ballet Company. She didn't. We heard that she ended up in the hospital with a "tropical disease". Huh? Looking back, I don't believe it. I think she starved herself. Too much. Just my theory.

About a year later I met her on the street. I was going through a "I'll never dance again" period. She was working at a phone company and actually helped me get a job there. (I lasted three months).

After I severed all ties with my school, I mysteriously lost weight. My mother called me "the skull", I was so thin.

A famous ballet story that deals with weight is "Dancing On My Grave" by Gelsey Kirkland. It's a thriller for a ballet bio, very engrossing.

What does this all mean? Firstly, it means our teachers knew little about being thin and being healthy. No one's fault at the time.

But we do now! So how do you fit into that size zero tutu?

I remember an amazing moment after I'd just finished my Cecchetti teacher's exam. My examiner was Margaret Saul, much feared at the time. (and somewhere in her eighties). My exam was the last of the day - and after my exam partner and I left the studio, Ms. Saul came out. She smiled at me and said "You have plump arms - like Karsavina. They make the right line". (Cecchetti's pupil and partner to Nijinsky).

I don't think I heard that correctly for about two weeks. Karsavina? Tamara?

So, it's just a matter of perspective.

And - to the point - fat does not make you fat. Carbohydrates make you fat. Except for Ezekial or some other brand of FLOURLESS bread, forget the bread. "Empty calories" means no nutrition. People who are wheat sensitive or gluten sensitive tend to gain weight and be bloated with fluids. It is easy now to find gluten free and wheat free products.

Proteins, vitamins, and minerals are found in meats, fish, eggs, dairy products, vegetables, legumes, nuts, salads and fruits. Not enough for you? For essential fatty acids, a little flaxseed oil and a little ultra purified fish oil daily supplements your omega 3 intake.

Unfortunately our culture is tuned to the billion dollar diet industry and the processed foods industry. This often leads to the loss of muscle, whereas a healthy diet will help the ballet dancer in building muscle mass.

You have to eat fresh foods. Set realistic goals. Tune out from the junk and be healthy in your ballet shoes and pointe shoes - lose weight safely by eating REAL food, good fats and oils, and forget the empty carbs.

Киевляне будут получать воду по графику?

В четверг, 16 апреля, министр по вопросам жилищно-коммунального хозяйства (ЖКХ) Алексей Кучеренко сообщил о результатах внеплановой проверки Государственной жилищно-коммунальной инспекцией водопроводно-канализационного хозяйства Киева.

По его словам, оно находится в катастрофическом состоянии. Только в марте на водопроводных объектах произошло десять серьезных аварий. В результате на улице Гетьмана провалилось дорожное покрытие и образовался котлован диаметром восемь метров, на улице Симиренко под асфальт ушел автомобиль, а на улице Бальзака пятьдесят автомобилей были затоплены смесью из воды и песка.

Кроме того, в ходе проверки было установлено, что Днепровская и Деснянская водопроводные станции требуют срочной модернизации, поскольку средний амортизационный износ оборудования на них превышает 75%. Устарели и объекты на Бортнической станции аэрации - единственной в Киеве системе очистки сточных вод. Уровень износа ее блоков составляет от 80% до 100.

Специалисты госинспекции установили, что у 26% водопроводных сетей Киева закончился срок эксплуатации. 21% из них находятся в аварийном состоянии, а более 33% канализационных сетей требуют срочной замены (часть из них построены до 1917 года). В министерстве по вопросам ЖКХ считают, что такая ситуация в Киеве сложилась в связи с низкими тарифами на услуги по поставке воды и водоотводу, недостаточным финансированием водопроводно-канализационного хозяйства Киевской городской госадминистрацией (КГГА) и растущей задолженностью КГГА перед АК "Киевводоканал" по компенсации разницы между действующими и экономически обоснованными тарифами. За 2004-2008 годы она составила около 590 млн. гривен.

В заключении госинспекции указывается, что в связи с аварийным состоянием водопроводно-канализационного хозяйства "существует вероятность возникновения глобальных аварий и катастроф", если КГГА не прекратит "остаточный принцип финансирования отрасли".

Алексей Кучеренко заявил изданию, что его ведомство не намерено продлевать "Киевводоканалу" лицензию на предоставление услуг по поставке воды и водоотводу, если ситуация в ближайшее время не улучшится. "Действующая лицензия закончится в этом году, и мы очень серьезно подойдем к рассмотрению данного вопроса", - заверил Кучеренко.

С выводами госинспекции согласен председатель комиссии Киеврады по вопросам топлива, энергетики и ЖКХ Юрий Бондарь.

"На работу "Киевводоканала" в бюджете заложено около 360 млн. грн, однако бюджет не наполняется", - сообщил Бондарь. По словам Бондаря, недофинансирование компании может привести к тому, что в Киеве будут введены графики почасовой подачи воды.

Первого заместителя председателя КГГА Анатолия Голубченко лишение лицензии "Киевводоканала" не пугает "Конечно, это монополист, но у него все имущество наше. Если у "Киевводоканала" лицензию отберут, мы его отдадим тому предприятию, у которого будет лицензия, а у монополиста останутся два стула и три бумажки!" - заявил Голубченко. По его словам, возможное лишение лицензии "Киевводоканала" не отразится на поставках воды в столице.

Между тем начальник главного управления КГГА по вопросам коммунального хозяйства Михаил Шпарик сообщил, что его управление заинтересовано в бесперебойной работе "Киевводоканала". "Мы намерены погасить образовавшуюся задолженность в 2009 году", - отметил Шпарик, сообщает "КомерсантЪ".

1. Believe You Can Achieve!

This may sound cliche, but cliches become so because they are true. You will not outperform the vision that you hold of yourself. If your mind tells you that you will always be fat, unhealthy, and unappealing - guess what - you will be. If you believe that losing weight is hard, or that you aren't motivated to eat "right" and exercise consistently then your actions will NEVER support your intentions. The bottom line: without 100% unyielding belief you will never permanently achieve your weight loss goal.

The Bottom Line- Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

2. Persist

Altering a lifetime of unhealthy eating habits and/or enduring the physical discomfort that often times accompany strenuous exercise is not easy. However, it's not the hardest part. The "hardest" part of losing weight and reshaping your body is persistence - undying, relentless, unyielding persistence - staying the course no matter what challenges you encounter along the way. Persistence, my friends, is what separates the boys from the men and the girls from the women when it comes to accomplishing any worthwhile task, including transforming your body

The Bottom Line: It's not about whether you can transform your body and blast away body fat, it's about how long you'll persist in doing what you need to do in order to accomplish your goal.

3. Don't Fall For Weight Loss Scams & Gimmicks

is designed to help you fail. The Bottom Line: If you're trying to lose weight and/or reduce body fat and you're not lifting weights a few days a week you're "missing the boat" completely.

5. Surround Yourself With "Losers"

One of the most effective ways to achieve success, including weight loss success is to emulate and "imitate" those who have already achieved what you wish to achieve. Successful people avoid negative people and they spend the majority of their time surrounded by those who have already achieved what they themselves seek to achieve. So if your goal is to weigh 150 pounds by eating healthy and living an energy full life - then seek out others who have already achieved this goal, or who are working towards achieving this goal.

The Bottom Line: Don't put yourself in an environment or surround yourself with people that do not support your weight loss goals.

6. Set Specific Goals

How can you reach a destination if you don't now where it is? Setting specific, realistic goals is crucial to transforming your body because it keeps your mind focused 100% of the time on the task at hand. Just wanting to lose weight is not clear enough of a goal for your subconscious mind to act on. How much weight do you want to lose, both short term and long term? When is your "deadline"? What might you have to overcome to achieve these goals? What specifically will you do to achieve your goals? How will you reward yourself? These are the questions you must answer BEFORE embarking on your weight loss mission.

The Bottom Line: The more vivid and descript your goals, the more likely you are to achieve them.

7.Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking enough water is the easiest Fat-Blasting strategy to implement, and yet the most often neglected. Few people truly realize how significant of a player water is in the game of weight loss. Therefore, by visualizing yourself looking and feeling, not as you are now, but as you will be, you're in effect tricking your subconscious mind into believing that your desired result has already been attained.

The Bottom Line-Make sure you have a vivid, tangible picture of what you want to look and feel like. Put this picture where you can see it several times a day. This image will imprint on your subconscious mind and your conscious mind will make it a reality.

11. Keep A Food Journal

Starting and maintaining a food journal is paramount to your success in improving your eating habits and transforming your body. Keeping a food journal makes you aware of your conscious and unconscious eating habits, and the moods that are attached to them. Food journaling allows you to learn about yourself, and then to use that self knowledge to make adjustments to your eating habits.

The Bottom Line- The first step to changing unsupportive habits is being aware of them. Keeping a food journal is the most effective way to track your current eating habits so you can make the appropriate changes.

Let's have some fun! Right now, put on some butt-movin' music. Get up and dance and move your body. Breathe in life and shout, "I am awesome! I am meant for greatness! I am sooooooooooooo sexy!"

I went dancing recently and realized that I need to do this more often. I get to be creative and let go.....when I'm dancing individually. It's a different story when I partner dance.

Currently, I am with a partner who likes to partner dance and do west coast swing and salsa. He has taken lessons and has been dancing for several years. As for me, I took cha cha lessons years ago with my ex-husband and it wasn't the best experience so partner dancing reveals a lot of things for me, which involves more than just dancing.

Picture me out on the dance floor being led around all over the place, but still trying to lead when I have no idea what I am doing. My partner informs me that I only have to follow and his responsibility is to make me look good. Follow! What does that mean? I tell him that I only want to move and shake my hiney. Of course, he tells me that it's not the way one does it.

This has brought up some insecurities in me: "I'm not good enough. No one is there for me." This is a great lesson for me, and I'm determined to let go and experience "following". As a result, I have signed up for dance lessons so that I can get better and am anxious to experience all that is intended for me.

Guess what those insecurities are related to? Childhood! There was a great deal of chaos while growing up, and I took on the belief that no one was there for me so I had to be there for myself. This comes out on the dance floor about following my partner and being able to rely on him. I have made this realization and am doing my own energy work around this. Too bad we're not tap dancing as the EFT which involves tapping would go right along with it.

Fortunately, this man is so understanding as I explain all of this to him. We can laugh about it and he is helping me to let go on many different levels.

For today, dance and let go. Know that you are enough, and that you are whole and complete just the way you are. God is always there for you and surrounds you with his love. He also puts people in your path to help and all you need to do is ask. This is another great lesson for me.

God also encourages you to shake your hiney too because it makes you feel good. Like Wayne Dyer says, "feeling good and feeling God are synonymous.

Dance and feel your body move. You are awesome!
